Welcome to Meldreth Croquet Club

Fresh air, pleasant surroundings, friendly people, and gentle activity – all to be found behind the British Queen pub in Meldreth, Cambridgeshire.

Croquet is one of the finest outdoor sports. It is a friendly game, played in many countries, combining ball skills as well as strategy and tactics, is easy to understand, and it’s fun to play.

The club plays the main two variants of croquet. Both forms of the game may be played as singles or doubles and many people enjoy playing both, as skills learned in one form of the game may be applied to the other:-

Association Croquet is similar in many ways to games like snooker or pool. Players move balls from one hoop to the next through the use of free shots on going through hoops, and hitting other balls in play.

Golf Croquet is quick to learn, but requires accuracy and forethought to master. In this variant of the game, everyone stays on the lawn and takes their turn in seeking to win the hoop of the moment.
