Golf Croquet

The Club’s Golf Croquet Page for activities in a Covid Season below should give you and idea of how active the Club usually is but this year we are dependent upon the Government’s Road Map. 

Friday mornings are available for players looking to practice playing level or handicap in preparation for league or tournament play.  If you are interested contact Colin and Derek see League Practice and Play

Other times that are available are shown on the Club Calendar  page in white with bookable sessions starting at 9.00 am for the  morning then for the afternoon starting at 1:00.   In the evening there is only 1 session starting at  5:00 pm. Thursday Evening Coaching

Every Thursday 6.00 p.m. – Dark there will be a Coaching and/or practice sessions available for Golf players and list of dates when a qualified Coach will be available will be posted on the Club Noticeboard.

This season we have entered 2 Golf Croquet teams in the EACF GC Leagues.

A.  Internal – Singles Handicap Competition – for all members, but mainly for those with a Handicap of 8 or below. 

This competition is open to all members, but preference will be given to those with a handicap of 8 or below.  Each game will be the best of 13 hoops played on a full court.  Bisques will be used, as appropriate, and there will be no time limit for the game.   Each entrant must play and record one game against all the entrants to qualify to win the trophy.

4 days have been booked for this competition using both lawns.   This is to help players play between 2 and 3 games per session.  Play is from 10.00 – 2.00.

10 places are allocated for the Singles Handicap Competition on a first come first served basis, so please contact Mary Moore – tel. 01603 506169 or email: me248moore@googlemail.com  asap if you would like to enter.

B.   Internal – Betty King Plate Egyptian Competition – for members with Handicap of 9 or above.

This competition aims to give higher handicap players the opportunity to experience playing the best of 13 hoops on a full-sized court.  No bisques will be used, but the handicap will enable us to give everyone a fair rating to start the competition.  Each entrant must play and record one game against all the entrants to qualify to win the trophy.

3 days have been booked on the club calendar using both lawns for this competition.  This is to help players play more than one game per session.  Play is between 10.00 and 1.00.

8 places are allocated for the Betty King Plate Egyptian Competition on a first come first served basis, so please contact Mary Moore – tel. 01603 506169 or email: me248moore@googlemail.com  asap if you would like to enter. 

N.B. Closing date 30th April or earlier if all places have been taken.

The games must be played by 30th September, and any entrant can challenge another to play a game at a mutually convenient time before then.  If you do play outside the allocated days, please make sure you let Mary know the result.

C.   CA Calendar – Restricted Entry Level is being held over 4th & 5th July.

This event is open to all the club’s players subject to the CA’s Conditions for Entry to CA tournaments.
